I daily drive a 93 LT1/6 speed C4. I approve of the grand sport, but for about the same money (as the grand sport commands a bit of a premium over other LT1/LT4 6 speed cars), an early C5 would a more comfortable driver and easier and cheaper to keep running.

I really don’t like the corvette at all, and I think the C4 is the ugliest of all. But, I’d without a doubt own that one. Most people think of the GTR when they think of the first Gran Turismo. I think of that Grand Sport.

I dropped in to a higher end auction in Toronto around 2000-2001 and they had cars roped off that were about to be auctioned. There was an immaculate Grand Sport and green ZR1 that were parked next to each other. Both like showroom condition. I’m not a big GM guy or Corvette guy, but I got weak in the knees looking at those two in such perfect shape.

I used to see a guy regularly commuting in a blue C4 that looked painted like a copy of a Grand Sport to me, he didn’t have the rear flare or exact wide version wheels, but he probably fooled most car guys. I think Eckler used to sell the rear flare, maybe they still do.

Floppy chassis be damned, the C4 is my favorite generation. However, for LT4 money (especially a GS), I’m in the C5Z range and there’s not really anything in the 15k range I’d take over one of those.
